For the Love of All Things Fluffy

It’s our first trip in Ginger without the old girl, Lucy. All seats are full, as my Pops is visiting from Wisconsin. The vibe still feels different. The young ones showed a bit of confusion as we load up. Crick taking one last look over her shoulder towards the heart-shaped rock that sits atop Lu’s grave. We cruise the two late for the next couple days. Soaking the National Parks. Driving roads so familiar but always new. She’s with us. There in memories. In the personalities of the two pups. She’s there with me as I cozy up in her spot.

boatlifeDSC_5788I hold these images deep in my soul. Closing my eyes and seeing a film negative of these exact moments. The warm sun on my freckled shoulders. Ice cold beer in hand. Hair dampened by a recent dip in the reservoir. We work for these days.

An Evening with Annie Oakley

It’s a gloomy July morning in the mountains. The thermometer just barely ticking its way¬† to fifty degrees. A perfect morning to drink two too many cups of coffee and edit some pictures.

A few weeks ago I hit the streets of downtown Victor with a bud and her new rescue pup, Oakley. These two were a hoot! Oakley is fresh off two knee surgeries but didn’t miss a beat. Capturing her in a paused moment was similar to catching a hummingbird not in flight. Eventually, she loosened up and gave up the goods.

Friday Night

We woke with the mountains this morning. Spending our early hours listening to the birds, spotting mule deer, and watching the clouds pass over the Tetons. All because we took a buddy to the airport.
